The 400m Swim – 16 lengths of the pool – 5 lanes – maximum of 3 per lane

 

 

Swim to Bike Transition – see map for layout

 

·   Follow the indicated route from the pool to the gate  - observe instructions given by the gate marshal – continue to bike

  1. Leave the transition area on foot with your bike
  2. Use the the gate to exit the field onto Pool Drive
  3. When instructed mount your bike
  4. At the end of Pool Drive turn right onto Beach Road
  5. Shortly afterwards turn left turn from Beach Road onto the A496

IMORTANT NOTE: the 2 junctions at at Beach Road (numbered as 4, 5, 10 and 11) will be controlled by Professional Traffic Managers who will stop cars to give priority to cyclists.   At ALL other junctions cyclists must follow the normal rules of the road. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT IT IS SAFE TO PROCEED. MARSHALS ARE PRESENT TO SEE THAT YOU FOLLOW THE RULES AND THAT YOU TRAVEL IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

  1. Proceed along the A496 to Glan-y-Wern then turn right onto the B4573. This road is closed to normal traffic but be aware that a residents are permitted to use the road for access.
  2. Follow the B4573 up the hill to Harlech
  3. As you approach the cross roads in the centre of Harlech follow the cones and marshalls instructions to complete a 180o turn and return down the hill. When descending the hill you are not permittied to cross the centre of the road
  4. Turn left at Glan-y-Wern onto the A496
  5. Return to Harlech and turn right into Beach Road
  6. Turn Left into the Pool Drive
  7. Dismount when instructed and use the gate to return to transition

Any rider exceeding the speed limit or crossing the central white line will be disqualified.

TEAMS – follow above procedures, except that the runner stands by the bike rack location. The Bike must be placed on the rack and the NUMBER and TIMING CHIP passed to the runner

Run Route - view map for more information

  1. Leave transition using the exit in the corner of the field
  2. Run past the Band hall and towards the tennis court
  3. Follow the path right along the back of the tennis court
  4. Turn left through the gate and over the railway line
  5. Continue through the next gate until you reach the main road - turn right onto the footpath
  6. Bear right onto the drive / track and follow this until you reach the gated railway crossing
  7. Pass through the two gates to cross the railway line and follow the path to the left past the 17th tee.
  8. When the track bends round to the left continue straight on towards the dunes.
  9. The track then narrows and passes over the dunes.   Please keep to the path – overtaking during this short section will be difficult. 
  10. Drop down onto the beach and turn left towards the flag - you must pass the flag with it on your right.  A marshal will check numbers at this point.
  11. Return along the beach towards the main beach access path – this will be clearly marked. 
  12. Head to the flag - you must pass the flag with it on your right.  A marshal will check numbers at this point.
  13. Follow the footpath from beach to Beach Road car park.  Please take care at the crossing place for the golf course and when passing through the gateway at the end. 
  14. Continue up Beach Road – keep to the LEFT of the road at all times. 
  15.  Enter the School at the gate opposite the drive to the Swimming Pool
  16. Follow signs to complete the loop in the school playing field
  17. Exit from the School and turn left onto the foot path
  18. Exit from the School and turn left onto the foot path
    Note: athletes are not permitted to run in the road
  19. Cross the side road at Glan Gors
  20. Follow the marshall’s instructions to cross the main A496
  21. Turn right onto the path
  22. Cross the railway line and follow the road round to the right
  23. Enter the car park at the bottom of the Water Gate
  24. Follow the signs and taped route to commence the steps

  26. Please continue through the taped / coned funnel and ensure that the timers have noted your number
